>3/18 24: Similarities between Electronic Computers and the Human Brain: Thank you Jensen Huang for best week of Learning since John Von Neumann shared with The Economist 1956 notes Computer & The Brain
HAPPY 2024: in this 74th year since The Economist started mediating futures of brainworking machines clued by the 3 maths greats NET (Neumann, Einstein, Turing) people seem to be chatting about 5 wholly different sorts of AI. 1BAD: The worst tech system designers don't deserve inclusion in human intel at all, and as Hoover's Condoleezza Rice . 2 reports their work is result of 10 compound techs of which Ai is but one. Those worst for world system designs may use media to lie or multiply hate or hack, and to perpetuate tribal wars and increase trade in arms. Sadly bad versions of tv media began in USA early 1960s when it turned out what had been the nation's first major export crop, tobacco, was a killer. Please note for a long time farmers did not know bac was bad: western HIStory is full of ignorances which lawyer-dominated societies then cover up once inconvenient system truths are seen. A second AI ecommerce type (now 25 years exponential development strong) ; this involves ever more powerful algorithms applied to a company's data platform that can be app'd to hollow out community making relatively few people richer and richer, or the reverse. You can test a nation's use of this ai by seeing if efinance has invested in the poorest or historically most disconnected - see eg bangladesh's bklash, one of the most populous digital cash systems . Digital money is far cheaper to distribute let alone to manually account for so power AI offers lots of lessons but whether its good or not depends in part on whether there are enough engineers in gov & public service to see ahead of what needs regulating. There are 2 very good ai's which have only scaled in recent years that certainly dont need regulating by non engineers and one curious ai which was presented to congress in 2018 but which was left to multiply at least 100 variants today the so-called chats or LLMs. Lets look at the 2 very good ai's first because frankly if your community is concerned about any extinction risks these AI may most likely save you, One I call science AI and frankly in the west one team is so far ahead that we should count ourselves lucky that its originator Hassabis has mixed wealth and societal growth. His deep mind merged with google to make wealth but open sourced the 200 million protein databank equivalent to a billion hours of doctorate time- so now's the time for biotech to save humanity if it ever does. Alongside this the second very good AI graviates around Fei-Fei Li) in developing 20 million imagenet database so that annual competitions training computers to see 20000 of the most everyday sights we humans view around the world including things and life-forms such as nature's plants and animals. Today, students no longer need to go back to 0.1 programming to ask computer about any of these objects; nor do robots or and autonomous vehicles - see fei-fei li's book worlds i see which is published in melinda gates Entrepreneurial Revolution of girl empowerment
EW::ED , VN Hypothesis: in 21st C brainworking worlds how people's times & data are spent is foundational to place's community health, energy and so natural capacity to grow/destroy wealth -thus species will depend on whether 1000 mother tongue language model mediates intelligence/maths so all communities cooperatively celebrate lifetimes and diversity's deep data ) . Check out "Moore exponential patterns" at year 73 of celebrating Game : Architect Intelligence (Ai) - players welcome .. some jargon

david, steve -could i intro you and see if we might build a quorum for a fortnightly drink and exchange of solutions and linkin friends- i zoomed with david for an hour last week- he's spending 2 months in arlington from colombia and is interested in how younger half of world can leap forward on sustainability challenges with tech; steve and used to meet many times as part of conscious capitalism dc and indeed before that I knew of steve as having started a virtual university; it seems to me that we are breaching very last chance to make tech collab solutions to whatever community crisis concerns youth you know most; whilst i prefer to find business models I have studied UN leaders attempts to take UN digital from 2016 under Guterres an unique servant leader- this student year a wonderful competition has resulted www.sdgmetaverseprize.org - the rules invite any team from 2 to 6 to join in choose one sdgs - show how digital collaboration can solve something - winners will be celebrated in 2023 at UN general assembly or by xprize or by various other sponsors. I have always found arlingon a strange place close to DC (poliical- madness) so arlington is world epicentre of social entrepreneurs www.ashoka.org who dont seem to scale; now where bezos has impact; it used to host extraordinary 1776 hub with over 500 tech incubators but thats closed; there are probably 20 people at organisiation of american states, idb, world bank I could ask to join in or zoom in ; while jim kim was at world bank they had lot of belief at least on health and annual youth summits- if its worth a go at a fortnightly meet please suggest a time best for both of you and lets start; if the cafe idea doesnt work but we can advance something via linkedin or lunchclub lets try that - over to you both!! ps i am looking at NFT crypto financing - while most madden me its a bit like go fund me on steroids in earmarking money for one community as potential world change gravity- 6000 educators are uniting round one nft ED3- I aim to meet its founder as my number 1 diary call- I have put many additional links at www.sdgoats.com (greatest of all time) and www.un2dao.com -also i gather mackey retires from whole foods in a few weeks - I dont know if this means he's unwell or going to regroup around empowering conscious connectirs- theres a hell of a lot to do on food because of putin- I do know the person who has been at world bank main person on food index data for 16 years if his intel can help anyone you know i can try and facilitate that; in fact even if the prize doesnt work - cataloguing who has intel by each goal is something I aim to do and release the last version of www.2025report.com - a quest for sustainability solutions dad at the economist and i started publishing 1984 after dad had since 1951 meeting von neumann applied his journalist scoop what to do with 100 times more tech per decade; ironically it was dads 1976 survey entrepreneurial revolution (italian advocate romano prodi) which inspired drayton to start ashoka but I have never been able to find out which of the 5000 entrepreneurs in his stable scales and collabs -its much easier to go in ashoka and start getting quorum if you are not a 71 year old white man. (a sort of reverse favoritism which I understand having done more deep intel research on bangladesh women empowerment than anyone in dc   ( www.abedmooc.com ) and having tried to map with the community that nurtured thurgood marshall who I'd trust most if I was a black youth in any of the 20 hardest cities to be black- rev al hathway in baltmore is the person i start with on future of lives matter usa though welcome your nominations

SMART CITY LIBRARY

Exhibit 22.6.1 CSIS wash DC - GOODman: Last economist social standing?

at any time: please send it in if you have one- i would like to see a library- and feel this is a resource that mapping eg humans exponential destiny - metaIverse.app - across the metaverse needs to free every teacher and student to explore if the sdgs are a reality not just a way of controling people as extinction takes over

TRANSPARENCY: what I am not interested in this library's curation  is :siloised academic or engineering arguments over defining what to pump money into a smart city other than common sense such as families grow up it in safely; youth's sustainability (as next generation mediating unprecedented tech change ) are valued as connecting the future through the best of human intel emotional as well as tech brilliant

Above I reference a new paper (while i havent read it completely) I know its source- there is a road of thinktanks in washington dc that have got more and more agressive about america first even if 2 parties define that in opposite ways; of those in old days that convened 500 people meetings every day crisis was the gloomiest in the sense that it assumes the world needs american military and in effect the world needs to be ruled by the inside the beltway system and whenever a politician wants to speak on that the stage is his and the DC media are to cowered to ask real questions; this the washington consensus prevails even though in usa it spins a system where the 30 wealthiest white men own more than the 40% of poorest - next door to csis there is a network that define human rights to be whatever USA says that is even though historically women black americans latinos asians, native peoples let alone mexicans who once owned the west coast could ask who really wants human rights that come second only to taxes spent on ever more arms and ever noisier vested interests sponsoring top politicians - however the lead author of this paper Goodman is the only common sense researcher at csis (apart from a few who used to be good on blockchain but they only hosted small meetings)

because of the prevailing mindset goodman has had to write this paper as if smart cities is a competition with china - DISMAL because

as even (Dalio changing world order, or Doehrr Speed Scale Stanford New Climate College) every sdg (most especially last mile health and nutrition and climate adaptation resiliency) Economist friends and i know needs more collaboration across communities and oddly back in 1962 my father started writing about what he saw as the first5 win-win smart cities tokyo seoul taipei hong kong singapore -whose common trading connections through to asean were diaspora chinese (actually the first 3 countries mentored by deming value iterative improvement engineering as what progressed place development and invented costal belt railroad  had more than one smart city which that connected by fast trains and ports where containerisation made trade 10 times more economical to design tech component supply chains across cities and these 43 nations need to sustain 100% productivity in rural areas too- whereas the 2 superports of hk and singapore were pure supercity models relying on trade to feed their populations

Being a Diaspora Scot and MA Stats Cambridge main maths Lab DAMTP:and last family member concerned with von neumann;s 1951 on qiz: ASK WHAT TO DO & HUMANLY INNOVATE WITH 100 TIMES MORE TECH PER DECADE
, like all alumni of Smith's moral sentiments learning curve 1758 on: I remain interested in collaboration smart cities and the sort of mindset that asians helped to connect being a true antidote to worst dynamic of the era of colonisation and armed agreession which ultimately isnt helping 8 billion human brains mediate sustainability's optima (mapped locally to globally) out of artificial brains urgtently as if this is our species last chance given maddening 20th c disregard of nature's evolutionary system rules; those that eg einstein clariified by say man's science is always at risk of being a fatal approximation to a more micro level dynamic deign nature uses- mathematicians who chose chaos metaphor round flapping amazon butterfly wings would have been much more practical if they had metaphored corona type viruses- at least if you feel we needed (eg 2 days out of evry 5 worked that is taxed in so-called democracies) to priroritise design of hospitals/community health services around serving human lives not butterflies
