>3/18 24: Similarities between Electronic Computers and the Human Brain: Thank you Jensen Huang for best week of Learning since John Von Neumann shared with The Economist 1956 notes Computer & The Brain
HAPPY 2024: in this 74th year since The Economist started mediating futures of brainworking machines clued by the 3 maths greats NET (Neumann, Einstein, Turing) people seem to be chatting about 5 wholly different sorts of AI. 1BAD: The worst tech system designers don't deserve inclusion in human intel at all, and as Hoover's Condoleezza Rice . 2 reports their work is result of 10 compound techs of which Ai is but one. Those worst for world system designs may use media to lie or multiply hate or hack, and to perpetuate tribal wars and increase trade in arms. Sadly bad versions of tv media began in USA early 1960s when it turned out what had been the nation's first major export crop, tobacco, was a killer. Please note for a long time farmers did not know bac was bad: western HIStory is full of ignorances which lawyer-dominated societies then cover up once inconvenient system truths are seen. A second AI ecommerce type (now 25 years exponential development strong) ; this involves ever more powerful algorithms applied to a company's data platform that can be app'd to hollow out community making relatively few people richer and richer, or the reverse. You can test a nation's use of this ai by seeing if efinance has invested in the poorest or historically most disconnected - see eg bangladesh's bklash, one of the most populous digital cash systems . Digital money is far cheaper to distribute let alone to manually account for so power AI offers lots of lessons but whether its good or not depends in part on whether there are enough engineers in gov & public service to see ahead of what needs regulating. There are 2 very good ai's which have only scaled in recent years that certainly dont need regulating by non engineers and one curious ai which was presented to congress in 2018 but which was left to multiply at least 100 variants today the so-called chats or LLMs. Lets look at the 2 very good ai's first because frankly if your community is concerned about any extinction risks these AI may most likely save you, One I call science AI and frankly in the west one team is so far ahead that we should count ourselves lucky that its originator Hassabis has mixed wealth and societal growth. His deep mind merged with google to make wealth but open sourced the 200 million protein databank equivalent to a billion hours of doctorate time- so now's the time for biotech to save humanity if it ever does. Alongside this the second very good AI graviates around Fei-Fei Li) in developing 20 million imagenet database so that annual competitions training computers to see 20000 of the most everyday sights we humans view around the world including things and life-forms such as nature's plants and animals. Today, students no longer need to go back to 0.1 programming to ask computer about any of these objects; nor do robots or and autonomous vehicles - see fei-fei li's book worlds i see which is published in melinda gates Entrepreneurial Revolution of girl empowerment
EW::ED , VN Hypothesis: in 21st C brainworking worlds how people's times & data are spent is foundational to place's community health, energy and so natural capacity to grow/destroy wealth -thus species will depend on whether 1000 mother tongue language model mediates intelligence/maths so all communities cooperatively celebrate lifetimes and diversity's deep data ) . Check out "Moore exponential patterns" at year 73 of celebrating Game : Architect Intelligence (Ai) - players welcome .. some jargon

i have been discussing plugins for UN with bard from simplest idea - integrated database of every prize un has ever awarded - there are 5000+ but in over 100 silo/registers some going back to 1976 mostly not tagged by sdgs which only got labeled 2015 -

there are a lot more sophisticated plugins but above might be pilotable within 7 days if permissions were agreed; for a slightly longer example when covid happened journals openly let computers do lit review of everything covered - a paradigm for why llms and plugins may now be popping up everywhere

for humans, local is urgent as we started debating with students 15 years ago sampling 10000 dvds of storyteller Dr Yunus before graduating to engineer Sir Fazle Abed;

visioning where subprime often hurt those who least to do with the crimes that subprime committed ...2023 can transform beyond such ; how? with pop up plugins linked by the world's most trusted llms can address how locally do you need to adapt those whose intelligence has ben stanardised globally)

with some mathematically deep enough to help societies not just the biggest corporate databases - we've seen this before in 3g world: around 2006 jack launched twitter within 18 months kenya did usahidi (twitter with a gps to eg avoid riots) and used the revenue from u to host ihubs; and mpesa was there as remittances smart crypto in pre blockchain days;

15 years later we at EB are not aware that anyone has applied satoshi to as transparent a case as kenya 2008 but i hope that's my ignorance; link me in if you know the most locally trustworthy dao of summer 2023 ahead of guterres goal by goal inquest unga ny september -

(i have kept diary of several hundred hubs since first running into one in london in 2003 - most are the opposite of deeply open unless they got funded by good tech lije ushahidi; I dont fully know how to spot the good llm from the bad other than looking which world influencing peoples have their reputation staked on that llm being a good media) - we welcome support in that due diligence at www.bcmrace.com

may climate plugins be the good news of college year 23-24 - early feeds at 2025report.com indicate that beyond covid lit cooperation, a similar opening cataloguing of how deep knowhow is moving on for climate, but apparently those who lead cop26/7/8 and those who could plug in human AI dont meet in the same circles - or if they do its not when a world leader is there to vote for the partnership happening

now for very unpopular statement number 1 - if you were waiting to change the world of media with augmented reality and metaverse platforms don't - the plugins can of course have branches which are all reality experiences but plugins are scaling from this day on to potentially leap with humankind anywhere and everywhere - no smart googles needed; my big question as a believer that only smart ed3 can sustain 8 billion beings is : who is going to open up what plugins to 5th grade teachers up? quite frankly if you are a 5th grade teacher you need to help your kids consistently unite back sdgs deadlines 2030; in other words you can no longer specialise only in inspiring 11 year olds; at minimum you need to join all teachers in clarifying which plugs are coming out which college year for what purpose

please note i may have over-simplified - so chat with me if you think we can learn or linkin how ai's chat and plug - i am at chris.macrae@yahoo.co.uk usually in a bus between dc and ny - if you whatsapp or text me +1 240 316 8157 please clarify subject - you can also find me at many blogs www.economistdiary.com tries to diarise main leaps in 72 years since von neumann trained my dad to be journalist at eco0nomis linking intellects of alumni of people like keynes with alumni people like the NET - Neumann Einstein Turing - you can also see dads book on that subject at eg http://neumann.ning.com please note i have no budget to hire you (the reverse actually not that I need a lot to bus up and down assuming covid is passed - stay healthy ...

my professional work, since getting 1973 MA Statistics at Cambridge maths lab DAMTP * corpus christi, has zigged and zagged. Bard was amused to find mu first employer university of leeds, national development projects computer assisted learning project had been visited by plato - their experts were probably correct to say that the team doing an expert medical ai were amout 20 years ahead of their time; i was on the team using onlinge to simultaneously train 100 students in stats - 25 years ahead of khan academy - obviously we didnt have videos but we learnt from printouts where students stumbling blocks were in performing stats science tests -so I really dont understand why 50 years of education networks didnt really start blending smart learning to covid- if ai.gov doesnt move at warp speed to transform education as unfit for purpose, nature not AI will destroy the new world - but then coming from 4 generatiosn of diaspora scots i can only suggest younger half of world makes friends everywhere

the peopls in 40 countries i have worked in have always been very kind to me (its true i had to escape before one or 2 bad guys saw some of the million hours of interviews with citizens my associates at harvard mit and paris databanked from local data we had market modeled) from 1982 i worked on first of 60 trips to asia mainly for companies like unilever (excellent training centre megamendung who wanted to understand if they could design any new products muslim mothers needed as the most extraordinary family builders ; so bridging understanding between any asian country apart from n korea and any western country apart from russia is something i usually know some under 35 who is working on; but of course that poses a difficulty i try to make sure I dont send young people in harms way so there are various tests I have in interviewing people the bigger the challenge they say they are interested in

you can also see eg a large range of books/journal papers i have written on purposeful organisation and auditing exponentials and how 90% of the western advertising/pr industry has been the problem to so much love and care humans could be co-creating; dismal pr agencies continue to be the problem with ai - firstly all ai is by definition human made (thats what the english language means by artificial applied to engines) ; secondly its bad media not bad ai that could big brother us to extinction

one of the problems of searching with 8 billion people is contexts matter; anything usually good i say maybe wrong if the most urgent context facing you is unique ; i try and learn if people give enough time to open (space ) conversations; so if bard is really going to be the first chat that faithfully translates 1000 languages I can't imagine anything more delightful even though I also have not one idea on what needs coding first to achieve such an openly caring mediator; i think i know what not to do and I do hope the un quickly throws out all greenwashers; ditto all multilaterals designed around 1945 if cooperatively climate is to be restored so millennials can be first susdtainable generation

come back here to see 100 chats emerge - will try and catalogue them but if there's one you like particularly why not use the post space below to give it a title as well as a like
